ECU Upgrade?

Feb 03, 2004 8 Replies

I was wondering if any one had any comments on the + and - of up grading the ECU to get more performance, is there a good one out there that people can recommend?

Can any one recommend a UK supplier and fitting service say in the Beds Bucks area?

TIA

Plenty of plus points!! No real downside if you look after your car, and it's already in good health!

One thing, stick only to saab tuners.. don't be tempted by generic tuning. They are a complex beast, and need someone who fully understands the workings!

Order a Maptun Stage1/Stage 2 kit and fit it yourself. Takes no time and not difficult. If you can plug your PC in you can fit an ECU.

I use Maptun all the time for Trionic Saabs, no complaints from me or my customers. If you've got a 9K Aero, 280bhp and 440nm for 800quid. Thats cheap power. Factor in a grand for suspension and brakes and 3K for a decent

9K Aero you've got a rather nippy capable car for under £5K. Brum Brum!!

Or this one perhaps?

Don't forget Hirsch - top quality.

I did a step one Hirsch conversion - smooth and fast.

Reading Saab fit them.

Anyone have good US suppliers they like to use?

Strictly speaking one should declare the changes to the Insurance company - Any reccomendations for non punitive insurance companies - I got quoted a far higher rate for the ECU upgrade compared to the equivalent powered SAAB - UK information please

Yes call ScanWest AutoSports and ask for Craig. Tell him what you want and he can get it done. Just got a new ecu my car. Awesome, really does unlock that additional power.
