engine swap 9000

hello there, just after some help ive got a 95 saab griffin 9000 3.0i v6. I want to put the engine in my 92 saab 9000 2 ltr lpt turbo, has anyone tried this. Is the gear box the same as they are both autos, i presume i will also have to change the engine management board (or may be not). The v6 has traction controll and aircon, would it be possible to fit the air con mech and re-gas system and not fit the tcs system if i dont fit the engine management system it wont read it. Possibly also fit the exhaust down pipe not sure if full system as the 2ltr has a specail made stainless cat back system. What about thermstat readings and wiring or is the wires all standard factory fitting ready to fit all models anything else to consider could i get rid of the cat system or are the gas readings too high, please help maybe some spares for sale soon thanks, mike.

Wait, you want to transplant the V6 into a car that has the 4 cyl turbo?? I can see wanting to go the other way around, and I'm sure it's been done, but why anyone would want to go the other way is beyond me.

The 9k V6 engine is almost like a dirty word. Don't do it.

I have two cars v6 griffin with high milage and shabby body and 2ltr which is a low pressure turbo and has a oil leak, but ive done a lot of work on it and is very good looking. The v6 would be more powerfull and smoother ride. Any reasons why i shouldnt swap

Because the V6 is a cr%p GM drop in. Fix the oil leak and sell the V6 to cover the costs. The SAAB 4cyl turbo is infinitely better!

How about selling the v6 getting a 2.3 full turbo and dropping that in the

2 ltr

The 3.0i will also be heavier and the front may drop if not set up for that engine. Engine management goes with the engine, every engine is different. It will be a headache and fuel consumption will go up. The 2.0 lpt is very smooth if in good order. Performance is good enough to screed the front tyres.

V6 has less potential power, if it's more as-is then turn up the boost on the turbo. There's also the poor fuel consumption, less than stellar reliability reputation, and the pain in the ass maintenance. There's a reason V6 900's and 9Ks are worth less than the same car with a 4 cyl turbo, they practically have to be given away, while the turbos almost sell themselves.

bingo, now you are talking. But instead, why not sell the V6, get the oil leak fixed in the 2 litre and treat it to a Maptun stage 3 upgrade.

The wiring will be a nightmare to get right, even if it were a 'good idea'.92 is LH controlled and the 95 is motronic (i think). fix the

2.0LPT and treat it to a HPT upgrade. it'll run circles around that boat anchor. An HPT upgrade would be as simple as adding an APC system from a C900 HPT that you extracted from a salvage yard. Where is the oil leak? I have never had trouble sealing up saab 4 cyl motors. right now I have an oil leak that I caused when I replaced the rear main seal, but that is a longer story. Otherwise it is leak free.
