left turn- noise?

Ok, maybe I'm just paranoid, but:

I think that I'm hearing a noise from the left front (passenger's side, US) wheel well after making sharp left turns, when returning the wheel to center. I thought it was just a stone being kicked up at first, but I've heard it enough times now to believe it might be real. I took a quick peek with a flashlight, and nothing is (obviously) out of place in the wheel well. I.e. the wheel isn't falling off.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? The car seems to be handling well. It is leaking PS fluid from somewhere, but the level in the reservoir is currently ok.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks,

CV joint. When those start to go they make a groaning sort under the conditions you describe. Did you see any cracks in the boot?

What sort of a noise? Knocking, tapping, screeching, etc?

It's not really a groan so much. More of a brief knock. Not unlike the sound of a stone being kicked up against the weel well. Or perhaps a metal part banging against another metal part.

Most likely cause is the ball joint on the lower arm.

Ok, thanks for the ideas. If I keep hearing it and I conclude it's not just paranoia, I'll check these things out.

Thanks,

John
