Really not sure - but - given it's location and the vacuum lines/nipples I'll bet it is part of the cruise system.

Part number 40 15 202 suggests that it is "an air removal valve", part of "ETS in intake/exhaust system".

Term is quotes are my best translation from foreign version of EPC CD. I have no English version on hand, so I cannot tell if my terms are perfectly accurate, sorry.
