starting problems

Hi everyone,

My C900 is giving problems starting. Turn the key, the starter motor turns the engine. Fuel starts to reach the engine, but it will not fire initially, and when it does, unless I push the throttle all the way to the floor, I release the key and the engine stalls.

I've worked out that it must not be getting fuel to all cylinders at the same time. I'm going to check out the injectors today but I'm not expecting that to be the problem.

There is a noticable mechanical clunk sound which seems to be coming from around the fuel distributor area, and after that all cylinders starting firing. I've never worked on that part of the system before so what advice can you provide for hunting down problems.

Once the engine fires properly it's ok, although it needs a tune. Coming up to time for another proper service before the registration is due for renewal in May...

I'm going to check the distributor on the end of the camshaft as well since I haven't looked at it for quite some time. The plugs may also need re-gapping or replacing, but that was done less than 12 months ago (brand new plugs!)...

Regards,

Craig.
