I'd be grateful for a little advice. I have just bought a 2002 Saab 9-3 from an auction and (I'm embaressed to say) I don't know which model it is. It simply says 9-3 on the back and the log book says 9-3 SE Turbo.I'm fairly sure it's not the HOT version, but is there an easy way I can differentiate between the LPT (150bhp) and Ecoturbo(185bhp)

hi difficult to tell in Europe but some one has written a VIN identifier for us look for the VIN number on the documents or chassis and put the code into

it could be a :
115hp TiD (you would know)
125hp TiD (you would know)
150hp LPT
154hp LPT
185hp FPT
205hp HOT
230hp viggen if your really lucky
has it got a boost gauge above the engine temp and fuel gauge, if so its
185hp or more

According to the table, engine variants are:
J = 2.0 i, B204I B = 2.3 i, B234I N = 2.0 T, B204L D = 2.2 TiD, D223L T = 2.0 T, B204E P = 2.0 T, B204R G = 2.3 T, B235R H = 2.0 T, B205L K = 2.0 T, B205R C = 2.0 T, B205E
Now, clearly D is one of the diesel. J and B are non turbo. G sounds like the Viggen. I would guess H and K are respectively the 185 and 205.
But what about the rest of them?
