'01 lw300 engine stalled

Was going home today and the engine cut out for no aparent reason. Odometer showed 60,608. Coasted to the side of the road and engine restarted with no problems. SES and Service lights were both on solid. Drove home without any further problems though shifting was a bit hard. Reset the trouble lamps by pulling the 'controls B+' fuse for 30 seconds. Driving was fine as were the shifts. Wait and see now if anything comes back. One additional thing that may or may not be related. Topped off the fuel tank after resetting the codes and doing a road test. On a 50 mile trip, noticed that the fuel gauge was reading about half full. Should not have even come off the full mark. I pulled over and turned off the ignition, then back on. The fuel gauge went to full, then over the next few minutes slowly fell again. Most likely a bad sending unit. The roads have been covered with salt for melting snow. My red car looks more grey/white from all the salt. Possibly the connectors near the tank for fuel pump and sending unit are starting to corrode. Will have to inpect on a dry day.

What were the codes?.......could be a dirty MAF sensor

Was out in the boonies when it happened. I reset the computer, by pulling the fuse, to see if it would happen again (and it has not). Resetting cleared the codes.

I was going to pull the air filter and check the induction system but we've had a spate of nasty weather lately. Interesting that this engine does not have a intake air pre-heater. Then again the computer might be running a Microsoft product and just needed a re-boot. ; )
