1966 Studebaker Cruiser

I noticed that it is indeed a later-production '66--one source claims only the cars built in calendar 1966 had the chromed extractor vents above the taillights, like this car does.

AFAIK, all 1966s has the chromed extractor vents in the taillights. That was part of the new "Refreshaire" system.

I have seen some with painted ones; not sure if that was a lower trim level thing or if they were painted to cover up pitted chrome. I don't have a Chevybaker parts book so I really can't offer an educated response.

I think you made a heck of a buy. The '66 Cruisers are far and away the plushest of all the later models. That one struck me as a very good buy- I was tempted. Paul Johnson

The first of all the '66's had painted louvers. But the chrome surrounding the lower half was exposed on the Cruisers and Daytonas while the entire bezel was painted body color on Commanders. Then around January, 1966, ALL models, Crusiers, Daytonas, and Commanders had the entire bezel, including the louvers chromed.

Does your Cruiser also have the wider extruded aluminum sill plates? And does it still have the dayglo red/orange tire pressure sticker on the driver's door post below the serial number plate? What color is your Cruiser?

Not able to answer the questions as the car is not here yet. I will let you know it should be here Friday.

I spoke to the sellers wife tonight. She said her husband had the serial number checked and it was the 5th to last car made. That should definitley make a last day of production Studebaker.
