You may recall my post about a backfiring Studebaker causing the the cops to come to my home after a report of "shots fired." The car had been described on ebay as having a tired engine and poorly running and I just parked it until it's turn came up. today, before giving up on the engine, I figured I'd checked the easy stuff first. I pulled the carb apart, but it looked great, time to check the ignition. I pulled the distributor, and found the point gap was maybe .002, adjusted it to .014 and now no longer have a "tired engine". Ebay folk amaze me.
