My power steering unit has been leaking steadily since it was installed, probably from lack of use....was installed, then sat for 3 years. Car is back from the body shop, and I'm in the slow and painful process of putting it back together. Because the unit has been leaking through the entire restoration, I now have a combination of ATF and primer/filler dust all over my hoses and on some parts of the engine, frame, steering box, etcetra.
What is the best method to clean this all up? Is there something I can wipe down the hoses and engine compartment with that will not rot my hoses or otherwise do damage, but successfully remove all this crud - some of it, I expect is rather inaccessible, even with skinny arms and small hands.
Oven cleaner and a low power pressure washer?
Looking for ideas......
