Dirty Jobs

Read a very interesting and disgusting article about sickness and transmission of viruses in Indiana last week. (No, not just sickness and viruses in Indiana...duhhhh...'while' in Indiana... ) The article said the most virulent place in a hospital room was the TV remote control, followed by the bed control, and then the nurse pager button. The article then went on to say the worst place in the common household was now the computer keyboard. So, seeing as to how some Hoosier willingly shared the crud with me, I decided to clean my keyboard this morning. Did the upside down vacuum thing.... Almost enough crumbs to make a cookie... Then the top was done with Formula 409 cleaner and a soft brush, followed by a wipe with a paper towel, and then cleaned in between all the toes (keys) with a piece of soft cardboard box wrapped with a paper towel. Yuck city... Now, out to the shop to get Ol' Dave's DWG and really slick it up perdy! Jeff

Along the lines of the Subject title, on the show Dirty Jobs, they did a behind the scenes episode where the main character was in his motel room talking about spending a lot of on the road. He said he's gotten into a routine when he enters a motel room which he demonstrated. First thing to get balled up and tossed into the corner was the bedspread, next went the phone and the television remote. He doesn't use the "complimentary" coffee pot, because it was probably cleaned with the toilet brush.

I think it was on Mythbusters where they found the dirtiest part of a public bathroom was the inside door handle.

When I clean mine, I disassemble it, put the electronics aside and soak the entire keyboard in hot, soapy water and hit it with a scrub brush. It's really amazing how much crap gets between the keys

A good reason to avoid going to ANY hospital unless you loose control of your situation. Kinda explains why some folks that went in for minor elective surgery/services never got out alive.

For years, I always thought it was a drinking fountain as nearly everyone pushes their cheek up against the slashguard while slurping down that stream of cool water. Then I heard not long ago the number one place for disease carrying germs was public transportation. I can see that as hospitals do get cleaned and de-germed on a regular basis, where public transportation does not.

Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.
