Emergency brake cables.

What type of grease, if any, should one use on the rear brake cable. the one that goes to both wheels.

I have one off a 63, that I have freed up, from rust, and is now in servicable condition. I'd like it to stay that way. Jim

Use water resistant grease (boat trailer bearing grease). if open cable, wipe on or brush on, if encased cable, wind cable in circle to fit in old pot or pan. cover cable(s) with grease, heat pan until grease liquidfies, let cool, remove and unwind cables, wipe off excess grease with rag, install cable(s).

My advice, do not put it back on........... reason, search back a year ago May, when the Hawk from Hell nearly blew up. I now carry wheel chocks, if I think "P" won't hold.
