It's not too happy a place around here. The forect fires started yesterday and the sun, while still above the horizon was quite red, with just a touch of orange. Hundreds of thousands on people are refugees from the fires and Marilyn and I dropped some sheets/towels/blankets of at Qualcom Stadium an hour or so ago. We hadn't used them for years - since merging the families. Homes destroyed and in the hundreds and these are in the expensie areas of SD county. Might be $750K average, even including those in the "low rent district."

Bad air is keeping the elderly inside and the filters in the Heat and AC systems will be clogged if people start using them while the air is still dirty. This is a repeat of what happened four years ago. Some folks never kearn - but it's a vastly larger number this year. ith the drop in the value of homes, the insurance batles should be great.

Water will be less this year, as our supplies willbe cut. We have desert rainfall here and folks try to turn their garden into a rain forrest. Back to the Navy showers! Toss in some desert gardens, instant at-the-faucet heaters, grey-water drains to sue for gardening and all should be right. Of course, by then I'll have dies of older age. But, it will feel nice when it's a comfortable seventy degrees next February, the wine is chilled properly and the fire and water problems are gone from mind and the usuak stupid way of living is still here in "Paradise Looney Bin."

(I think I'll go wash the driveway.)

Karl it finally started raining here ( a good rain without storm) yesterday.

Last Thursday night, 4 tornadic Thunderstorms went by my house. Fortunate for me all the dancing circles indicating doppler indicated tornados went on by to the next county or two.

The last real day of summer was Sunday(84 degrees).

Now the wait begins for the cold dark winter to arrive.

The Ilyushin-76 Russian made Waterbomber is by far the most capable craft at dealing with forest fires and is capable of carrying up to

135,000 pounds of liquid and can be filled and ready for takeoff > Karl it finally started raining here ( a good rain without storm) yesterday. >

Here's what the former fire chief of San Diego had to say.
