What the hell were those swabbies doing with guns. Shouldn't they have ben using mops for that drill exercise? In all seriousness, I, in reality, appreaciate the Navy. If it wasn't for the Navy to carry the Marines to where the fighting was, we'd all be speaking Japanese. LOL and duckin' for cover. Semper Fi, Jerry

Those aren't "guns" Jerry, those are "pieces". You can readily observe the noise difference when the Navy GUNS go off. My brother was a career gunners mate and is about deaf now. I wonder why.

Sorry Jerry, we thought the Jarheads were being given liberty while we had to stay on board. Hell, we even sent a Navy corpsman ( medical specialist ) along to patch their booboos.

We appreciate the Marines too. Without them we would have to guard our own gates and that would have taken our time away from doing really valuable stuff for our country. LOL

A grizzled old Marine Gunny, and a Navy CPO were sitting in a bar drinking somewhat heavily. The Marine says "I caught Iwo, in WW2, Korea, and 2 tours in Nam."

The Navy chief said " Quit your bitchin.Sounds like all shore duty to me!!."

(thanks Calvin)

one time in boot, the precision drill team was in front of us, on the way to noon mess at Great Lakes. It was about 30 below chill factor and the drill team leader had a VERY perverse sense of humor.. we WAITED, while they did half time, at quarter step ( about 9" steps for you non military folks) ( count SECONDS between steps..about 4 or 5 worth in fact..) was a LONG wait for them to get passed us..but they were REALLY good.. They did the funerals an such around there.

That's less than $1 per person of the US population. There have several projects cancelled after lots more than that has been spent and without any funny stories to accompany them.

Karl

(But a lot more that some I;ve been working on.)

Can anyone explain to me why they closed Bainbridge (me in '57) and San Diego and left the coldest place open to train our new sailors? (Must have been some senior politicians from Chi on the armed forces committee.)

Karl (I guess it's good for that delightful WNA, though.)
