Prestolite Distributor fix

Nov 16, 2006 2 Replies

A while ago, a friend of mine did some business with another "Stewed-nut", in California. He has since lost his name.

To make a long story short, The Stude Nut in California said he had a fix for the counter weight problem in the Prestolite distributors.

Anu body know of some one with this skill?? or knowledge.

TIA. Jim

I believe the "fix" is to replace the weights and springs with units from a RB block Chrysler distributor, and also weld up and grind down the weight pins if necessary. The Stude Prestos did not have bronze bushings on the weights, the Chrysler ones did. Also a good idea would be to rebush the dist. shaft at the same time. I know Dave T. can do this and probably someone in CA could as well but I don't have that information.

good luck,

nate
