When replacing a rear fender, on a 59 2 door sedan, what is the material that is in between it and the body and acts as a sealer? Also, is the small foam rubber looking strip that runs down the inside to seal the wheel well from the rear passenger roll up window area still available and/or can I use some other off the shelf product?

The correct sealer is body-caulk, from an automotive paint store. In a pinch I have used latex window glazing putty, left over from a house project. To me, they appeared to be the same thing. The rubber splash strip can be made out of 'Weather Guard'. It is a rubber like sheet, used just above the rain gutters under the shingles. This is used to protect a roof against ice-dams in northern states. Look for somebody getting a new roof and ask for a scrap, if they use this in your area. Roofers usually have rolls of it on their truck.
