The Joys of a 4 Day Weekend... (ot, damnit)

Oh, the joy of having a 4 day weekend..... Last week the ordeal began.... Our pool filter is not filtering... So..... The wife is all aghast and atwitter about the pool turning green over and over again. I was aghast and atwitter when I saw the cash for chemicals scandal unfolding. After a thorough investigation, I found out there was no 'pool boy' component. After further investigation I found a superb Ebay deal on a new filter and a pair of distribution valves. They all arrived Tuesday, so Wednesday night we went to the big box store and bought a C-note worth of PVC crap. So, last night I attacked the whole mess with the SawZall, Cut out everything and tossed it out. Moved the cement pad and relocated the pump and filter to a much more accessible place. At 5:30 this morning I was out digging up the old pipes and making a new trench over to the new filter pad. Glad I have a compound miter saw. Makes cutting pvc a snap. As of about 15 minutes ago, everything was glued and backfilled and the pool is re-filling. I have to follow the strict instructions and stay inside indulging in cold adult beverages while the chemical reaction with the glue completes it's important task. I do not need to observe this reaction first hand.... Twist Pop glugluglug..... Aaahhhhhhh.... Jeff (enjoying getting the @#^%$& job done on day one...) Rice

Digging in Florida isn't ALWAYS that easy... I have been digging up the remains of a stump at the shop where the tree's roots found their way into the plumbing to the bathrooms...what a PIA! I am trying to be careful and save as much of the pipes as I can rather than just blowing the stump out of the ground. It's right against the building, which makes it even harder. This will be a long, slow process...about two hours a day digging in the sun and cutting roots is all I can take. Studebaker George

As of this morning, the pool filter job was all done, the tools cleaned and put away, the albamutapentamagnabonenohurtomo pills worked and the adult beverages made me a happy man... Then pool is awaiting a late evening dip and float after tonight's car show (to which I am not prepared, but don't care)... I finished eight intake manifolds and boxed them for shipping, and am out in the shop with the A/C on, cleaning up the place... Almost all of Bud's parts have arrived for the Ford (gasp!) p/u project, except the danged 4 link setup.. I don't want to remove the rear end to box the frame until I have the 4 link kit, so it can be triple checked. As a side note, I found a great street rod radiator builder that built a custom 'double core' aluminum radiator, with the a/c condensor mounted, and a rear aluminum shroud and electric fan...all ready to drop in with the mount plates all set. Just need to drill the six holes to hit the OE brackets. They did not drill them to give me some up and down latitude in mounting. A work of art. I opened the box, held it up to the truck and put it back into the box out of fear I'd pull an Ol' Dave Jhook moment and tweak it... I am going to contact this radiator builder and send him off one of my 'extra' Hawk radiators to see what he can do for us poor ol' Stude folks... Pic's later, after the shop is cleaned up a bit... That's strange... I sent him my '53 radiator to copy, figured he would still have it. The one he built for me slipped right into place.

Great guy, does great work, and is a pleasure to do business with.
