Battery ?

The WRX starts up and runs fine after a jump, but then wont start after siting for awhile. Probably the battery right ? The + post was dirty so i cleaned it off. Turns over after siting, but its real slow. Can a battery go just like that ? It was ok yesterday, parked it last night then it barley turned over this morning. Got a jump went to work and same problem when i left work.

I understand that in older batteries the plates in a cell can collapse suddenly. . Apparently 1:after rapid charging/discharge the plates can buckle and touch,2: the plates can get eaten away and fall apart, or 3: there can be a gradual buildup of crud till it gets high enough to touch the plates and short them out. That discharges all the other cells and the only option is a replacement

Definitely. Every time I get a new battery on my own it turns out to be something else. First, remove the wires from the posts and clean the posts and the fittings (they make a cheap tool to do this). Also, check the ground wire and make sure it tight and clean against the body. Finally, it's not hard to check the alternator, and you might want to have the starter checked, too.

I had it tested at advance auto parts, it was the battery.

And what are the odds of them not telling you your battery is bad? Do you really trust that kind of place?

Not much advantage to them not helping folks fix their cars. After all, he's just gonna go back and complain if the battery doesn't fix his car and prbably blab to all his friends and relatives about getting ripped off by AZ PLUS tell usenet about it. Not very wise of AZ toy to create such bad publicirty (doesn't mean they may not be inept at troubleshooting his problem) besides - couldn't the same accusation be aimed at a dealership?

Yeah , watched her do the test. Saw the bad battery message come up on the machine. Got a new one and no more problem.
