E-85

short answer, no. Not among the cars listed as approved. Also, I believe the owner's manual adresses the issue.

Hi,

My understanding of E85 is that your fuel system MUST be designed to use it, otherwise damage may occur (to the fuel system as opposed to the engine), and your owners' manual will tell you if your car qualifies. I don't believe any Subies do, yet. I could be wrong, though.

If you could use it, E85, be prepared for fuel mileage to go South. Ethanol only has about 70% of the energy content of gas.

I don't think the cost difference for E-85 makes it a good deal for precisely the reasons you listed. Where I live, where lots of Ethanol is produced, normal 10% ethanol runs about $2.72 per gallon, with E-85 running about 2.25 to 2.30. Dollars per mile is greater with the E-85.
