MY01 OBW remote entry problem

My remote door locking/unlocking has been working intermittenttly for some time and has now stopped working completely. Replaced the battery when the remote started playing up and the replacement battery is still full now. Checked internal contacts on remote and seems OK.

Anyone had similar experience? Any way I can check the receiver in the car in case it's become disconnected? Is there a way to encode the key to match the car's receiver or are they sold as a matched pair?

Thanks

From what I understand there is some sort of key in the ignition sequence to program the receiver. Check your manual.

Mine sucks too (OBW 2001) I have to press the button about 20 times to get it to respond. But it eventually does. (This after a fresh battery too, makes me wonder if there isn't also a battery in the receiver that needs replacing.)

One of my remotes was so bad I thought it was broken and I went back to the dealer and they reprogrammed it. Unfortunately, I did not realize until too late that I have to be very close to the door for it to work (may as well use the key). The other remote, which I use daily, is somewhat erratic in terms of how far it'll work and how many button presses it'll take. Yeah, for me, this is a definite weakness in an overall good product.
