VW Passat: Central locking problem

  1. Remote central locking/unlocking suddenly stopped working. Thought at first it was a dead key fob battery, but same effect with another key fob.

  1. Manual locking/unlocking of all 4 doors only works at the front passenger door.

  2. On driver's door, manual locking only locks/unlocks that door. It doesn't have any effect on the remaining doors. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery, in case some logic had got locked up somewhere. No effect.

Ideas anyone?

Check for water in the rear footwell. If wet, chances are your convenience module is knackered.

Yes, that was what I suspected.

So I booked an appointment with the local VW garage for them to take a look. And, would you believe it, when I arrived there, the locks all worked perfectly!

There was no point in leaving it there, for them to charge me a £79 diagnostic fee to find a fault that didn't exist any more. However, a major service is due soon, so I will have them look at the CCM when they do the service.

[P.S. I looked at various web sites for more information on Passat CCM problems. Apart from the possible cost of replacement, what upset me most was the fact that these problems are still being found in cars much newer than my 8-year old model].

That sounds more like the connections in thne doors are playing up.
