So I can use the oil pressure light to tell me if I an also low on oil. Make sense?

I would love a low oil light, but ...

I don't know if they still have them, but a friend's Porsche 911L (yes, that is an L, a model only sold briefly in the USA about 1968 while adapting to US smog regulations!) has an oil LEVEL gauge, so you don't just get a warning but a pretty good readout of the whole level. That car has a dry-sump lubrication system, pumping oil out to a cooler, maybe they thought there was more chance of a leak...? But I think several high performance engines come with oil level gauges.

I recall years ago I was able to download shop manuals for my 2003 Forester from a Russian site. These were in English and now the car is gone and I ditched the manuals but tried googling. They do appear to still be available including 2006 but my AV would not go to the site as it appears unsafe. Do not know if you want to chance it but these manuals were very enlightening.

I found that site a few years ago. I downloaded a "maintenance" manual. Full parts blowups and all. Could not find an owners manual there though.

No, they did not have manual that came with the car just all the part details.

I often find better than using the owners manual is to google up a you tube video on what you want to do. Easier to follow.

A few years ago I learned a lesson on trying to fix a loose handle on the stove when it looked like all I had to do was take off the back. I messed things up so bad I needed to call a repairman. Had I looked at the videos first I would have learned my mistake and not made it.
