Transmission or clutch?

My 2003 Baja is now sitting semi-dead in my driveway.Went out to go somewhere-started fine.As soon as I let out the clutch it lurched and died.I managed to shift into reverse and now it's stuck there.Any ideas? I'm not going to fix this myself-just want to know if what I might be looking at moneywise.

can you give us some more info? Is the car sitting on an incline or level ground? Can you restart it with the clutch depressed? What is the age/condition of the car? Any recent work done or wrecks?

It was sitting on level ground and started fine.Had it flatbedded to the local Subie dealer. They put it on the lift and were able to put it back in running condition.Makes me a bit nervous tho. I'm the only owner and it's in fine condition-only 83k on it.Last time I had it in the shop the dealership really tried to hard sell me a 2006 with low mileage but it just didn't have everything the 2003 had.

I'd say, That's my line, but what I usually say is, "Wow. It's had it. If you pay me $250, I'll come and flatbed it away for you."

For some reason, no one ever takes me up on it! ;p

Did the dealer tell you what happened?
