I own a 1960s Mercedes Benz four cylinder diesel engine.I bought it from J.C.Whitney back in the 1970s.I paid about $350.00 (I have my paper work from J.C.Whitney of the engine too) When I received the engine from J.C.Whitney back in the 1970s, there was no starter motor, no bell housing, no clutch, no pressure plate, no throw out fork/bearing, no transmission.I bought a used transmission from a local guy, the other parts, I bought brand new from a local Chevrolet/Mercedes Benz dealership.I figure all together, I spent about $870.00 for the engine and parts.I haven't cranked the engine up in years and years.It is sitting on an angle iron stand I made for the engine, in my shed.The starter motor requires two 12 volt batteries to crank the engine over. cuhulin
