Anyone use a solar maintainer for automobile battery?

Does anyone have any experience with any of the 12 volt solar battery maintainers? Any recommendations?

Is this one that plugs into your cigarette lighter (or the PC term: power port) and you place the solar panel on the dash? Remember that in a lot of cars, the power port is no longer active when the ignition is off.

I used one on my '01 Dodge 2500 that might get driven twice a month. Bought it at Harbor Freight for $16. It worked for maybe 6 months. If you go that route get a good one.

I now installed a battery cut off switch at the battery. I now just disconnect it when not in use. It hasn't failed me yet!

Reminiscent of another old one:

Why do programmers often confuse Halloween with Christmas?

Because Oct 31 = Dec 25.

I thought about a cut off switch with a small connection for the clock and radio.

I already have a fused, always hot connection to a lighter. I use this for my red led dash light. I can leave my dash light on, with the key out of the ignition.
