Intake manifold gasket leaking.........

Morning all...

Ok...99 GMC Savanna 5.7 seems the rear of the intake manifold is leaking coolant, and I think my exh might be getting some coolant in it also....

My question is will it harm my vehicle to leave the leak alone for a while,or should I break down and tear into it this weekend? someone told me that GMC's all leak from the intake manifold? Appreciate the advice in advance....

Leaking at the intake manifold has been an ongoing problem for some GM engines. But that does not mean that it is an acceptable condition, IMO.

I would try to get it repaired as soon as reasonably possible. I contacted a number of gasket manufacturers about two years ago to see what they were doing about improved gaskets for the GM problems. Unfortunately, I have had a crash since then, and lost the feedback. At least one manufacturer recognized the need for a better solution and was working toward a 'cure'.

Maybe someone else here has update on improved gaskets.

Since you state it is leaking some internally as well I'd get it repaired ASAP. Coolant does real nasty things to the bearings in an engine, and it doesn't take long for it to happen. For new gaskets go with Fel-pro, they seem to be a bit better than the factory gaskets on the small blocks.

Fix it. It will only get worse. Felpro has a great gasket for these. I think they are called perma dry plus. The original gaskets are plastic with oring inserts. The felpro gaskets are metal with rubber wrapped around it. Works great.
