Yes, If it smells like paint thinner it is history. Buy a product called STA BIL and use according to directions, next time you need to store gas for more than a few months.

Haven't seen themon the wheel, just on the column/ turn signal stalk. That works well for me.

I have used gasoline stored for up to two years in both my lawnmower and in my vehicles. Never noticed a problem. Never seen a vehicle with wiper controls on the face of the steering wheel. I did own a mid '60's Ford that had a switch on the floor, easy accessible with the left foot. One little tap and the wipers would swipe once. If you pushed the switch all the way down, it activated the squirters to spray washer fluid on your window and activate the wipers. Handiest wiper setup I ever saw.

Yes it was. Early 60s Valiants had that. You'd think since the left foot has nothing to do anymore , that would come back.

Yes but switch on the floor will also easily expose to dirt and moisture. Few years ago i had `75 Camaro with high beam switch on the floor (common solution in cars that age) and i had to clean often caused by moisture problems. Embarrassing matter was when the switch decided to start blinking the high beams itself on the highway.
