Trans Fix in Transfer Case?

I have a '97 Ford Explorer with Control Trac. The transfer case leaks at the rear seal (that connects to the rear driveshaft). I replaced the seal and it still leaks about the same. I did not find any roughness or pitting or other damage to the surfaces where the seal contacts. This transfer case utilizes an electromagnetic clutch to engage the front driveshaft. It uses Mercon ATF. Would it hurt anything to put some Lucas Transmission Fix in there to try to slow down the leak? If it gets too low on fluid the clutch won't engage properly.

I would fix it instead. you probly have a worn bushing in the tail shaft. KB

Sure, go ahead. May as well kill it before you have to tear it apart.

Much simpler to pull the shaft. Replace the yoke bushing, Then get a new seal.

Those sure were two definite answers! Thanks for stopping me before it was too late ;-)
