Wheels for an old axle

Aug 04, 2005 0 Replies

On my farm we have an old trailer that was built using some sort of Ford truck axle. The trailer is at least 45 years old, so the axle must be over

50 years old. It is definitely a Ford axle since it has the Ford script on the bearing cap. The wheels are the old split rim type. They are 20" wheels. The wheels are attached to the hub with what appears to be five 5/8" to 3/4" lug bolts on an 8" diameter circle. I would like to replace these wheel with something more modern (i.e., not split rims). Is there something available out there that will serve my purpose? I'd like to stick with the 20" diameter wheels.

Thanks.
