The thing does work sometimes, but then goes off. Can anyone point me at pictures or manual on how to get at it (or just describe how)?

Getting at the clock should be obvious once you get the trim piece off.

Damn Dash trim removal tool (DM-40-22) costs about what a little stand-alone clock will and whole process does not look like fun. Would a thin knife do the same thing?

However you do it, make sure the car interior is warm. Plastic loves to crack when it's cold, and then you'll invent obscenities never before heard.
Not a problem as I am in Florida (about 83 right now, going to plummet to the low 60s on Sunday.

I'm in northern NJ. We are expecting 4 inches of snow tomorrow.
I know. One of my sons is there. Next Friday and Saturday are when I will be there.
Try a putty knife - the wide blade isn't as likely to mar the plastic. If it is real cold outside, warm up the interior first so the plastic is not too brittle.
Thank you very much. I had not thought of a putty knife. Being in Florida all I have to do is leave the car in the sun for an hour and it will be plenty warm .

As noted earlier, I miss the cold so much I am driving to NJ for XMAS Well grand kids have something to do with the trip.

Be careful in NJ, if you are not used to driving in icy roads coupled with lousy drivers who dont slow down and anticipating the stops ahead. Just yesterday, there has been so many accidents.
184 accidents from 7 am to 11 am and reaching 400 in the late afternoon. Drivers just don't seem to slow down anymore = (
