I was going to say, "No," but then I *think* that's where I stored the Kleenex box in my '76 Datsun. And I think it's where I put my feet when I was the rare passenger in my own car.

I hope it remains a double deal. That way can put certain stuff in one compartment & other certain stuff in the other - don't have to hunt through totally irrelevant junk to find stuff one really wants. ;-)

Cathy, I've been reading your posts here and have to ask, what do you drive? _________ ===fish=== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

An '04 Corolla LE. It's the 4th Corolla in a row, since '84. Before that a little (& spartan, but cute) Datsun B-210, & before that a Plymouth Duster.

As I can see from my latest edition of Consumer Reports, the newest Toyota Corolla sports an EPA 30/38 (very impressive) with an overall score of 67. Price is very competitive.

To quote Consumer Reports for the Corolla, "Reliability has been excellent."

I am currently researching the RAV 4 and the next in line would be the Highlander, though I am leaning towards to RAV 4 personally. _________ ===fish=== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Exactly.

Exactly. My goal has been to get the most for my money (what is affordable), for a product which depreciates as soon as it's driven off the dealership's lot.

Mucho dollar difference, n'est-ce pas? I drove a RAV 4 once - as a loaner from Toyota one day. I am theoretically against SUVs (even the smaller ones), but I really did like driving it. (Which kind of annoyed me. )

Yes, however - the EPA gas mileage is the best in its class (RAV 4) and the next runner up is the Highlander.

For me to spend an enormous amount of savings, I need to justify the purchase, so this decision must be well thought out.

Wow, that sounds so cool to be able to try other Toyota models.

That's what I'm looking for. A vehicle that is fun to drive.

Everyone tells me to opt for the 4WD for the extra traction in the snow and most of my neighbors seem to have those SUV's.

*sigh* _________ ===fish=== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

I think it was "Tomes" who stated:

If you are following so close that you can't stop in time, you ARE tailgating. By definition. You need to be able to stop in time to avoid such occurrences.

SLOW DOWN and BACK OFF and you will not rear-end drivers in front of you!

-Don (hating tailgaters)

This is how ours is evolving. Papers in one and junk in the other. Tomes

Toyota has a rental program through its dealers. Rent the car just like any other rental, but it's a new Toyota.

Rent away, and try any model you like. Or buy a smaller vehicle for every day, and when you need to take a trip with the family go rent a reliable Sienna.

Ask them why they say that, and the only answer they'll have is that "everyone else says so and has one".

In other words, those are the lemmings of the world. Ignore them.

The fact is, two wheel drive with winter/snow tires is far, far superior in the winter/snow than all wheel drive with all-season tires.

That's what I used to call the 'hatch' area in my '73 Volvo 1800ES

Look it up if you want to see a "wayback"! (don't forget the ES...it makes a difference!)

Well, at least in '84 you moved up to GOOD cars!

(The 210 was a good idea, but, it was a NISSAN!)

Well, because she took off, they did not charge the crane driver. There were witnesses. She was in the middle of the lane, driving slowly.

Now, when something like this happens to me, I get over ass soon and as safe as it is to do so.

But then, I drive better than most...

OK, Don, read the words. Not tailgating. Person screeches on brakes. Deemed other person's total fault by police and insurance. You would have hit this fool as well. I suspected someone would be this foolish.... Sigh.

But back then Nissans were really good. I had a truck and an Axxess and both lasted forever.... Tomes
