I am more concerned about ash-tray lungs.

But, I like my lungs.

When I was a teenager I had the same sort of temptations (from my peers) anybody else had, so I actually tried smoking cigarettes.

However, I found the taste of cigarettes to be so abominably bad that it left me quite puzzled as to why my friends thought it was so cool.

Needless to say, I never started.

Almost same thing for me, at 9 yrs. old. My father smoked a lot (although he eventually quit cold-turkey in his mid-40's) when I was little, and I begged & begged for a puff of his cigarette one day. My mother - who's never smoked - finally said, "Go ahead; let her." I coughed, it tasted horrendous, & that was that.

I never could get into the idea of sucking smoke into my lungs. I didn't pick up the cigarette habit either even though I was surrounded with my peers smoking them. I guess you could say I am a non-conformist, LOL.

I actually forced my son to smoke about half of a cigarette.

Turning green, he vowed never touch it again. He hasn't.

I thought the same thing about beer. I never understood why anyone could like the taste of beer.

More than that one puff would've been absolute torture, IME.

I can see why.

It was kind of funny. He started off all tough, acting like all was well. The progression to green took a bit of time.

I feel the same about whiskey and other hard liquor. I prefer to use cleaning solvents on things that need to be cleaned, not on my tongue and throat.

I tried it once when I was 13; it made me terribly sick, so I never did it again. Thank GOD.

Me neither!

I tried very hard to acquire a taste for it when I was in my 20s, but it was nasty then, and it still is, to me.

Hubby loves the stuff.

The jury's out on that :-)

But I agree with him on that one...

You have an excuse. That extra "X" chromosome causes this deficiency.

Even my beer-loving hubby hates hard liquor (at least the brown ones). He and I don't mind gin and vodka, if they're mixed with something sweet. A screwdriver was my first alcohol drink when I turned 18 (yes, I held off till then). It was still legal for 18-year-olds to drink in Florida back then.

In this (one) instance, no. I also dislike the taste of beer. If the weather's really hot, the first couple of gulps go down fine. Prob. only because at least the beer's wet & it's cold. After that... blech. The taste shows up. ;-P
