Looking for opening in Firewall on 1998 Corolla

Im almost finished installing a remote start in my 1998 Corolla LE, just need to install the hood pin switch. Is there a grommeted opening in the firewall somewhere on Left (D) Side to run a wire? Or will I have to drill one?

Usually you can find an existing penetration (e.g. a wiring harness) and run the wire right along side it.

You don't need a new opening, just use one of the existing ones. Drilling blindly through the dashboard should be your last resort, for two reasons - One, drills slip. And you have to be extremely careful not to drill into something vital on the other side, and no matter how careful you are, Stuff Happens.

There are often a few unused holes through the firewall with blank plugs in them. Some of the in-use holes have a 1" bundle of wires going through a 2" hole, and the factory grommet has a thick ring section around the harness, a thin web, and a thick rim where it snaps into the firewall hole.

CAREFULLY poke a hole or two 'X' cuts in that thin web section with an X-Acto knife (Do Not Nick The Harness!) and you can push your new wires through. You can finish off with a dab of silicone seal on each side.
