MR2 discontinued???

Ok, I haven't kept up with what Toyota has been doing lately... but I think Toyota is nuts for discontinuing the MR2.

That was one sharp sports car for the money. Last time I was at the dealer in 2004 they had one I sat in... I really liked it, and thought the styling for a car in that price range was among the best, if not the best.

Not sure why the MR2 isn't more popular than it is... I'd rather have a MR2 over other sports cars costing twice as much... that's how much I liked that car.

Albeit now that I think about it, Toyota did this once before when they discontinued it for a while, then brought it back again. I just hope they bring it back again, as it compliments their other vehicle lineup quite nicely.

Over pricing compared to the competition in the marketplace is one reason, I suspect.

Mazda's similar sized and equipped car, with a metal retractable roof rather than vinyl, is selling for nearly $10,000 less. For around the asking price of the 2 seat 4 cy Toyota one can buy a V8 Mustang GT convertible that seats four, as well

But who wants one? This Mustang has been the second worst selling Mustang in history, after the MpUiSnTtAoNG II.

I don't get it. I drove a 5-speed once, with a Cop sitting next to me (that sure beats *ANY* radar detector on the market!!! ;) and it was a BLAST!!!

It was a fun, fast car, but the handling wasn't quite where it should have been. It could have been there was too much muscle for the suspension?

Get real the Mustang outsells ALL of its competators, combined LOL

Huh? Maybe where you live, but around here they languish on the lots for MONTHS, enough so that dealers are selling them BELOW COST to get rid of them...

That could be...

A stripped down Mustang maybe...that gets 1/2 the gas mileage. Besides, I never considered a 4 seat car a real sports car. Sporty perhaps.

I'm talking more about small cars; like the old MG's and Triumps, which the MR2, Miata, and I think BMW makes a 2 seater also, fit into that category. You know, fun toy cars.

Which I thought the MR2 was an exceptional example of that particular type of automobile.
