My Corolla won't accelerate anymore

Hi all,

My 2001 Corolla with 90K won't accelerate above 60 mph, it makes a lot of noise when I tried to accelerate and the speed stay around 55 mph. My 2000 Corolla had similar problem and had it fixed for mass airflow sensor, do you think that the same happens to my 2001 Corolla? thx

Noises are difficult on a news group. What kind of noise is it? Did the problem start suddenly? I would doubt that if it were a mass airflow sensor, a noise would be associated with it's failure. You could try cleaning it with a contact / brake spray cleaner. Just spray it off without touching it with your hands or any cleaning tools. Check all your fluid levels such as transmission, oil, and coolant as your owners manual shows. Add a dose of dry gas to your fuel in case your tank is contaminated with water. Make sure the air and fuel filters are clean and installed correctly. Those are just some of the easiest and cheapest ways to try to fix your problem.
