Off-topic: Meet me at the bar, Charles...

So you're a '76'er? I used to have a couple '76'ers I had crushes on back in the day. AA(L)RP sent me a card.

That's nothing. I've been wearing support hose off and on since I got the quad bypass 4 years ago. Age ain't got nuthin to do with it.

At twenty we worry about what others think of us; at forty we don't care about what others think of us; at sixty we discover they haven't been thinking about us at all.

...

Yeah. Damned bicentennial overshadowed our graduation!

I got so damned tired of being called a "bicentennial" senior.

:-P

...

Well, actually it does - very few folks in their 20s need support hose.

"tak" ...

You're nearly as cheerful as Charles.

:-P

I was 46 when they filleted me. I've worn out the $60 a pair support hose they put me in at the hospital, so I just wear regular support hose when I need them, which is usually when it's cold, or I'm doing a lot of walking. Damn heart is so stubborn it started on its own as soon as they stopped whatever was preventing it from beating. I'm told only 20% of hearts do that. When it's cold my legs ache, and support hose make them feel warmer and they don't hurt so bad and I can get some rest..

About a month ago, I received a "professional" rate for Maxim magazine. I'm not kidding. But I didn't accept it because I already have a free subscription that runs until 2023. At least I think so, but I've never seen any of the issues, and my wife says she hasn't seen any, either.

Yup...they been sending me one for over a year now...

We hated the fact that we were treated like we weren't important because the NEXT year was the Bicentennial. 75? Ho hum. There weren't any quarters, half dollars or dollars minted with 1975 on them. They minted 1776-1976 quarters for 2 years. Just pennies, nickels and dimes. And they came out with the 1976 green-seal 2 dollar bills, making the 2 dollar bill the last denomination to become a Federal Reserve Note, beating out the 1 dollar bill which got to be FRN sometime between 1957 and 1963.

Try buying booze from a liquor store that cards everybody, and refuse to show your ID. You'll feel like you're under 21 again.

Maybe it's for their own members -- do you really want a demented, shakey great-grandpa to have the right to bear arms? Mine became obsessed with rats and shot lots of holes in the barn.

How bitter and petty of you. I do the exact same thing, only I put some of their junk in the chipper shredder so it makes a mess when they pull out the papers.

They still card my husband in restaurants, but *not* me! He has more grey hairs than I do, though he's bald up top, so you'd think they would assume he's over 21.

Nope.

I believe the Second Amendment speaks for itself. History and the news is replete with examples of the elderly successfully defending themselves with firearms. Or perhaps you want to see them rendered defenseless against scum?

Very nice. I'll remember that. Far more can be put in the same envelope.

...

History nerd.

Natalie

(BEAMING WITH PRIDE) She noticed. Too bad you weren't at this wild party I was at last Sat.

I try to be even cheerier, here's a catch-up course for your formative years:
