Nevermind the poisonous wildlife. They expected you to wear considerably too much clothing for that climate, IMO! ;-) Long pants? What, no shorts provided? A helmet? My hairline's sweating just *thinking* of it... Then, I bet you all have boots on. Arghhhh. Yeah, I expect they were a snake deterent, but jeez... way too hot! Regulation sandals would've been nice.

"Cathy F."...
Actually, you don't really sweat - all your body moisture evaporates. LOL
Keep in mind that desert-dwelling folks wear a lot of layers, and so were we. Yes, we were wearing boots. I wouldn't recommend sandals. Scorpions like that terrain...
Natalie
You look cool in that pee pot, LOL.
The good times. Thanks for the pix.
Somehow it just doesn't sound like my sort of place... ;-)

*Nobody* looks cool in those things. Speaking of pee - you can see the Port-A-Potties in the background, just over our shoulders. One of them was red, for some reason. Let's hear it for indoor plumbing!Um... you're welcome?
:-)
Natalie
Indoor plumbing, hooray! :-)
The summer after 4th grade I went to (sleep away) Girl Scout camp for a week. Wasn't homesick at all, but boy oh boy, did I miss indoor plumbing! Got home & that bathroom - esp. the toilet - looked *so* good!
Cathy
For some unknown reason, you don't look how I imagined you would. I thought you'd look more like the second from the left but a tad darker. Hmmm... I do poorly playing along with Identity.

Hehehe - she's actually Latina, but it's hard to tell that in those outfits!
If you look closely, she's wearing just her fatigue cap; the rest of us have the fatigue cap *and* the helmet on. In the desert, you need as much sun protection as possible!
*sigh* nobody even wears fatigues anymore, just BDUs ("Battle Dress Uniforms, or camouflage). We weren't even issued BDUs unless we were stationed at *very specific* bases. Hubby looks way hotter in BDUs; he's one of the few currently active duty AF people who have worn both. (he got out as enlisted for several years, then went back commissioned, after finishing his degree)Natalie
So do I; I bet a lot of us do. The only person who's struck me as looking
*exactly* as I had envisioned him before seeing a photo was James Herriot, the veterinarian/writer.Several years ago, a couple of on-line friends were very surprised when they saw my photo. They'd envisioned me as black, plump, & very jolly looking. In reality I'm white & thin(nish), & while not severe looking, would never characterize myself as having a "jolly" demeanor. ;-)
Fun to see how close or far off one's mental image has been in comparison with the real thing. :-)
Cathy
Interesting. Could we see a picture? :)
Most LIEbrawls DO come across as been decidedly UNjolly and severe looking. There have little sense of humour and take themselves, AND THEIR ISSUES, oh, so seriously.
Once they found out the truth did they back off?
Then why are most comedians liberals?
?? No.
