Funny: "uphold Damascus as its main "partner" in the Arab world instead of Saudi Arabia". What do we need from them? Figs? Why don't we just bribe their top officials directly and be done with it?
Think back to Baer's book, and how Assad handled threats to his regime. Key word: Alawites
