Tangentially on topic: An article in TIME (Apr. 7th issue) titled "The Clean Energy Scam" - "Hyped as an eco-friendly fuel, ethanol increases global increases global warming, destroys forests and inflates food prices. So why are we subsidizing it?" Addresses issue of jumping to conclusions too soon, & therefore jumping on the bandwagon too soon. Talking about studies that had been done on ethanol/crop fuels: "There was just one flaw in the calculation: the studies all credited fuel crops for sequestering carbon, but no one checked whether the crops would ultimately replace vegetation and soils that sucked up even more carbon."

notice how the first one conveniently LEFT OUT the part that shows Temperature LEADS CO2. According to the second chart (that the IPCC had posted on their web site until one of the Brain Jocks there must have figured out how stupid it made them look) the temperature rises BEFORE CO2. Therefore, a rise in temperature CAUSES a rise in CO2, quite contrary to what AlBore would have you believe.

I may start believing what he says when he decides to take the oath he foists upon everyone else.

but I doubt it...

Thanks. This article has now changed my impression of Scientific American from solid source to k00k fodder. Look at the title of the article! Not only that, but there is NPO fact presented, only conjecture! Not at all like the SA I read when I was in High School and College.

That's all well and good, but we are enough of the World's Police Force as it is. I'm all for pulling in our neck and paying attention to our own house. That goes for Iraq, too.

I was told the drivetrain's total friction is very close to that of a conventional 2wd vehicle's, but I don't know the amount of weight the hybrid drive system adds, if any.
