Man Accused Of Stealing From Gravesites To Landscape Home

A 29-year-old man in Arkansas was arrested after he was caught on tape allegedly stealing flowers and trees planted at family gravesites, according to a Local 6 News report.

Recently, some mourners noticed flowers disappearing from their loved ones' gravesites and decided to crack down on the thefts and plant hidden video cameras.

The cameras captured William Alan Heveran allegedly stealing a tree from the Ten Mile Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas.

Mourner Marcus White told the Saline County Sheriff department that he regularly took a video camera to the cemetery and captured Heveran on tape taking items from a grave.

"I came up with an idea to concealing my video camera up here in the cemetery and try to get some pictures of him, White said. "I was finally successful."

Heveran later told investigators that he took the tree and flowers because he was depressed, Local 6 News reported.

Saline County Sheriff Phil Mask said Heveran was taking the items and planting them in his home's flower beds and walkways, according to a report.

Heveran has been charged with misdemeanor theft.
