OT...Toyota!!

Nat, I lived in Lawrence for three years before waking TFU and moiving to Nashua. If Holyoke is tha Armpit, then Lawrence is the...well you get it...

And Holyoke is cleaning up big time. It's still a high-crime area, but a lot of the old, cockroach infested apartment buildings near High Street are GONE (either torched or condemned and torn down) and there is a KICK ASS Chief of Police, a Black man named (Damn if I remember his first name...Walter?) Scott who is extremely vocal. About Judges. "We round them up, they go to court, and the lienient judges in this area out them out on the street and we have to round them up again. The revolving door has got to stop!"

He can be heard quite frequently on the Howie Carr show

as just another caller, but calls so much Howierecognizes his voice (Howie's from Boston...) There has also been a lot of cleaning up, and a lot of activities going on in the city. It IS a big home to the Latin Kings, but they rounded them up about 3 months ago. They'll probably do it again before winter.

I thought that was the entire Boston area... Speaking of Tax-a-chusetts, my husband's brother, one of his sisters and their spouses bought land on Cape Cod (Dennis) back in the late 60s, early 70s. The four of them built their 2 houses themselves (Literally), for about $27,000 each. There was no other heating but firewood and electricity, they had to get their mail wayyyy out of town, and they had to drive their kids to school. Despite those particular pains-in-the-ass, it was a good investment.

Each of those coastal houses is now worth nearly $1,000,000. Way to go!

My mother-in-law refuses to leave, despite being mugged many times, as well as her neighbors being burglarized. I worry about her and my youngest sister-in-law living alone there. My MIL thinks she should stay there until SIL gets married and leaves the house, but SIL is nearly 40, morbidly obese, and unfortunately, rather emotionally immature (She's not retarded, but she's quite sheltered). I don't see her on her own anytime soon. I keep expecting to get that phone call from hubby's other siblings, or worse, a knock at the door by the police. My single eldest sis-in-law lives there too, as well as her son (He lives alone too), so that worries me as well. (I love all of my in-laws very much) *sigh*

I'll check it out, thanks.

God speed to them!

LOL that's out on DVD, BTW - I have the first 2 seasons, and realized how many in-jokes I didn't understand as a child. Very clever writing on that show.

My mom wondered why I watched it into my late teens/early 20's. Talk about cold-war humor (if there IS such a thing) at it's best...

OT...Toyota!!

----------I'm just not clear about all the extraneous shit that's being posted on this board. It's a car board, vent your other concerns elsewhere. I do, this board isn't your life...I hope. It's a car board, we all have our own concerns about...stuff. Sorry to vent on a Toyota board about my Toyota...please feel free to angst about your own lives...I guess. sigh.------------

When I read the other manufactures DB's I see none of this extraneous discussion going on. They are too busy with their american made cars breaking down to be concerned with the worlds issues. Since we don't have to occupy ourselves with worries about bad transmissions etc, we can solve the worlds problems while waiting for our next scheduled maintenance,,,,. 8>)

DEMONrats, however, wait until the worlds' problems are on their front door step. Republicans believe in being proactive. Better to have conflicts resolved on FOREIGN soil!!
