OT...Toyota!!

Sorry to intrude. My '03 Carolla was one of the first born, got it in February of '02. She has only about 24,000 miles, mostly city driving, stop and go, but she does love her road trips. 2 to Nova Scotia, several short trips to NH and Maine. Had service done at the dealer the first 20K, no more. I have a great service shop nearby, find yourselves one, it's easy nowaydays to look one up.

I do bring a print of Toyota suggested service...they follow it to the letter, they call me tell me what I don't need. Anyway, we've just had a great road trip through VT, the Green Mountains, Lake Champlain. All I'm saying is...in the whole scheme of things, I know I can just turn the key and go. It's a car, and my ol' '03 Corolla, her name's Edina, will just go. She'll have 4 snow tires all around this winter, we do live in New England...we'll be fine. I'm just not clear about all the extraneous shit that's being posted on this board. It's a car board, vent your other concerns elsewhere. I do, this board isn't your life...I hope. It's a car board, we all have our own concerns about...stuff. Sorry to vent on a Toyota board about my Toyota...please feel free to angst about your own lives...I guess. sigh.

The most sensible thing you said (not having a go BTW). Its an ALT groups. Go see what the ALT usenet heirarchy stands for.

But most of all, enjoy your Corolla

As you so eloquently stated, your Corolla is just hit the key and go.

This is typical of most of us here, our Toyo's run just fine.

Our 05 Avalon limited and 02 Highlanders are jewels. The Limited is amazing. I now hope when they change the Highlander styling in a few years that they use this Platform.

With this said, a lot of us find this (alt.) Toyota group a place to vent. We're loosely tied by the pride in our Toyotas.

Just about all of us do preface subject that doesn't concert Toyotas with "OT" this is the standard for this group and Usenet. Ron

Oh, boy, are YOU introuble! You talked about a TOYOTA here! Whew, I feel bad for you! ;P

BTW, where in New England? I live in Western Mass and know the route you're talking about. Take the same trip again in about 6 weeks, but I'm sure you know that...

I'm a few miles south of Boston, where salt water has been known to freeze in the winter. Have a great trip.

Like Quincy south or like Plymouth south?

I used to live in the town just west of Plymouth

The Boston area rarely gets down to 0F, I'm assuming because of the moderating effects of the ocean. When it gets cold enough for a long enough time to freeze salt water, that's CCCCOLD to a Bostonian!

When I moved out to the SF Bay area, I arrived on Labor Day weekend. My buddy and spent the weekend doing the tourist thing and one of our first stops was the Golden Gate Bridge. Being Chicagoans, we made fun of the locals wearing winter parkas, hats, and gloves on a 50 F day. A year later, I was among the ones wearing a jacket - I guess your body really does become acclimatized to the local weather.

I spent some of the coldest times of my life at Fort Devens, MA in the

50's. The old coal-fired furnaces couldn't keep the butt cans from freezing. Pretty area though what I saw of it.

Hmmm...a few miles south, eh?

One small area of the state I'm not too familiar with. I lose it from Southie, through areas like Bellingham and Fall River, etc...

North and west I know pretty much the entire state, except your area and Cape Cod...

Visit Yankee Candle and you're REAL close to where I'm at!

Why is Holyoke pronounced "whole-yoke" and not "holy-oke?"

Actually, I call it, "Hell-y-yuck" Hubby doesn't like that nickname; can't understand why. Seriously, though - everyone in the family says it holy-oke.

My wife's ex-husband's grandmother lived in Holyoke until her husband passed away, when she moved in with her daughter in Maine (my wife's ex-mother-in-law, whom she is still close to). She pronounced it whole-yoke, but maybe that was the Maine-iac influence corrupting her pronunciation.

Could be - I've never heard it pronounced that way

Wasn't Maniac a computer like Eniac, Univac and Jonniac?
