OT: Why is there Religious Junk on a Toyota Newsgroup ??

Don't bother, Natalie. JoeSpareBedroom doesn't realize he is a worshipper himself. He worships science. He blindly accepts everything that is told him by science because he has no way of proving otherwise. He has faith in other people to explain a mind-numbing concept and yet others to agree with them. In reality he is a worshipper of people, but he's in trouble. People are fallible and will let you down each time. Joe also believes people or maybe aliens created the cosmos or maybe it just came out of nothingness and is headed nowhere with no purpose whatsoever.

"Cultural Christians"...what's that? Never heard that one before. Also how many "Cultural Jews" are there and "Cultural Muslims?" :-)

"badgolferman" ...

I don't have a problem with differing beliefs. I do have a problem with ridiculing the beliefs of others.

Yes, but people use to believe the Earth was flat.

...Until science showed them otherwise.

So I think JoeSpareBedroom makes some good points.

Can you explain the beginnings of the universe? Where did the first light start from? What was before the first light? What was before that? Can anyone explain it? Can JSB explain it?

Science hasn't proven everything regarding religion is false, so that doesn't apply.

I like Joe. I just wish he'd stop insulting us for our (very personal) beliefs. I'm not harming him with my faith, and he's not harming me with his lack of same.

Live and let live.

I can't tell you where the first light started, as you put it. I can only tell you that I'm quite light myself, since that seems to be what you're getting at. Now, sometimes, I wish I were as dark as the great Jewish senators Charles Schumer of New York and Barbara Boxer of California, so I wouldn't have to worry about getting sun-burned in July. LOL

Why can't anybody explain where it all started from? No human on this celestial body has been able to explain it. It's been all conjecture. A few point out there is no God. How do they know there is no God if they cannot explain the beginning of the universe and before? I'm waiting for some answers.

I agree with you completely. Nobody, as yet, can explain where it all started from. But religious folks will tell you otherwise. They have an explanation: god. They just can't back up that explanation with anything better than say "take my word for it."

That's better than anyone else has come up with...

Why don't you accept that there is a God. Prove there isn't.

Exactly; moi aussi.

Cathy

Religion is a cheap way for the lazy to delegate thinking to someone else, like a priest or ayatollah with serious control issues that were never resolved in childhood.

People invented religion and wrote every single word related to it. Yet, you believe what they wrote, don't you? I believe the people you follow are fallible.

I can't explain it, but I've made a choice not to say it was designed by an imaginary friend. Some people outgrow that nonsense by the time they're 6 or

7 years old.

When religious people can explain why their deities let innocent kids get cancer, I'll listen. I've heard all the lazy bullshit explanations. I have yet to hear a good one.

Ten years ago, science couldn't explain why a certain type of sea lion was vanishing. I suppose religious people could've explained it in biblical terms, but that would've been stupid, since there's now a REAL answer.

Not really. You don't read, so you're not aware of the progress scientists are making in understanding these things. And, it's not a fast answer, like the short stories you like to hear on Faux News.

Umm....please ask your clergy person that same question when you go to church next. Let us now what he/she says.

You won't, though. You won't understand the conversation.

Tell me the story, putz.....

Hey Joey tell me about 'your' house again...

ROFLMAO
