I wish you would understand one thing. After 45 years of chasing

Usenet is not a therapy session. Your relationship problems should not be aired out here where you will be ridiculed and diagnosed improperly. If your past experiences have been less than satisfying perhaps you should look at the one common thing amongst them all -- yourself.

You will never find the perfect woman or the one who won't hurt you. My wife is the only person who can hurt me emotionally because I have an intimate relationship with her. She knows my weak spots and I know hers. A relationship is built upon trust and if you aren't willing to go to that extent then you have no chance of ever having an intimate relationship.

It really boils down to one's own attitude. If you are willing to accept someone for all their blemishes then you will not be dissapointed when they are exposed over time. Expectations of others and how they treat you will set you up for failure everytime. Your happiness cannot be based upon how others treat you, it must be based upon your relationship with God and your willingness to be of service to others. Only then will you be able not fall into the trap of people-pleasing or unmet expectations.

Bingo!

Hacker!!! I'm impressed.

Improper diagnosis. ;)

"Must be?" Its good to be "in the know", eh?

Re-read your opening paragraph (which of course doesn't apply to me).

His problem is not "people-pleasing" or "unmet expectations" its a transference of self loathing. ;)

Of course there aren't, if all you want is to have a sounding board to hear all the problems you've had in life. Would you want to continue a relationship with a woman if all she wanted to do was to tell you how hard her life has been? Naturally enough, you would run away fast from such a person. And make no mistake, no one wants to be around a depressed, downhearted, misogynist who can only bitch and gripe about the way life has dumped on him for 50 years. You say you're 50, but then describe how tough life has been for 50 years. You were dumped on as an infant? And as a child you suffered all that the other kids around you did to you? Come on, get real.

If that's what you've elected to do, I have no pity for you, none whatsoever. You've crapped in your own bed, through your s***ty outlook on life, and now you must lie in it. If you don't want to change, and join the human race, you'll die a shamefully shallow and unloved old man, and it will be all your fault. Wake up and smell the roses in life before it's too late, and it's getting mighty close to being too late.

Sorry, DBU, but for once, I strongly disagree with you.

I've done a lot of trying over the years. I scraped and scratched to go back to college when I was 30. I've had friends hook me up with other friends that were still single.

I have basically found that if a woman isn't married by 30, she's not worth marrying. They either have cats (highly allergic) or are control freaks of some kind or another. I have not had one girlfriend in my life that hasn't tried to use me in some way or another. What lies? That I had been used by the girls I'd dated? That there are no girls worth dating? That there are no churches fit to go to? There aren't anymore. Every time I go to one that I find a little home in that I can begin to relax and feel comfortable and start trusting people, something always happens and the group I'm in gets broken up and I'm thrust into another group that is a large crowd of 'lemmings'. Usually the people I was with and trusted move on and I usually do, also.

Sorry DBU. You may be a conservative, but I see signs you're also stuck in 'groupthink' in certain ways

DBU for once your VU meter is broke.

Charles the Curmudgeon

This is based on a sampling of how many women?

You really need a new outlook on life AND a new newsreader. You're replying to me as if I'm dbu.

Do you really like the life you have now? If so then just ignore everything I have told you. Come back when you're sick and tired of being sick and tired.

If a guy isn't married by the time he's 30 he's............

What's the standard for women?

These days? Experimenting in teens.

"Sampling"? Now, how does one properly "sample" women? Quick, here comes Natalie with her denuding fork.

Your imaginary education would've made the meaning of the word clear in this context.

My father married my mother when he was 31 and my mother was 33. She gave birth to me at age of 36.
