toyota question

Not sure if there are any real Toyota users here, (seems to be hijacked by political morons) Anyway.

I have a 2004 Toyota sienna van. The Passenger side door is making noise when opening and closing. The arm that is fixed to the door that stops it from going any further seems to be making a noise. It is attached to something inside the door, Ive tried oiling it but its something that is physically broken it appears inside the door. Has anyone seen this and knows how to fix.

thanks.

Only a moron would buy a Toyota anyway.

Try removing the door.

Is the door a power door or a manual door?

Sounds are difficult to diagnose without hearing them first hand.

What did you oil? There should be rollers on the upper and lower arms that move along the door track. Make sure that the rollers are oiled and turn freely, then apply some lithium grease on the inside of the tracks. IIRC, there are upper, middle, and lower door tracks.

If something is physically broken inside the door, you would get a rattle more than a scraping sound. A scraping sound points to the rollers on the door arm or interference in the tracks.

If something is rattling inside the door, remove the inner door panel and take a look at the bottom of the door cavity for loose objects.
