Toyota steering

This article is just another illustration of my main complaint regarding Toyota. For years they have worked to hide defects to protect their reputation. Until recently they have been mostly sucessful at deluding people into believing that Toyotas were exceptionally good. They could get away with crap like this when they were a small player in the US market. Now, as #1, it should be painfully obvious that Toyota is nothing special. They have exactly the same sorts of problems as other high volume manufacturers The only difference is their ability in the past to successfully coverup / minimize the reporting of some major screw-ups (engine sludge, bad ball joints, rust, etc, etc, etc). This doesn't mean that people shouldn't buy Toyota products. It does mean that they should quit being suckers and paying thousands more for average (or in somce cases worse) cars. Toyota is unique - just like all the other manufacturers. They build some good cars and some crap cars. Quit deluding yourselves that Toyotas are "special."
