1992 Camry, stalled while driving today...HELP PLEASE!

Today I made a run up about 5 miles away and while on my way home I stopped at a light, proceeded, then the car just konked out. I towed it home on my flatbed trailer. I inspected the timing belt, wich wasnt torn or ripped apart. Im getting power to everything. The car had been very well maintained, with 280K on the clock, most Highway miles. Any other suggestions?

Are you getting spark? Any fuses blown? Does the fuel pump make any noise when you turn the key on?

Check the ignition coil - Haynes manual shows specifications. If runs OK cold, check hot.

Had a similiar problem with my 93. Fuel pump (located in the top of the gas tank)was overheating after short use. The more you stress the engine, the hotter it gets until it shuts down. After a minute or so it'll restart, or if you wait 15 or 20 minutes, it might run three or four times longer before the next shutdown. Shop hooked up a fuel pressure guage to the fuel line (after say it was five other things it wasn't, after fixing them all one by one). They'd said it was the fuel pump also, but put in a new one without cleaning out the fuel tank as much as needed, and grit in the tank was clogging the new fuel filter as well. Finally got a used tank and fuel pump assembly (one unit as the junkyard) and replaced the whole thing for $70. $130 to install it. No trouble since. (Two months).
