Want to replace radio cassette player. Have problems finding a wire harness for 85 model, only seen harness for 1988 upwards. Don't want to cut cables. Found a wiring diagram for 85 model and unfortunately the the wire colours are not the same as mine. Not sure which wire is +12volt ignition or +12 volt battery wire. Any tips.

Those 2 are easy to find with a volt meter.

one small step for man,..... One giant leap for attorneys.
12v ignition is gray
12v battery is blue w/yellow stripe
Wow. Let me know what a chore this is. I was going to put one in my Mom's '86 but it doesn't look like a standard opening...
I was able to find a wiring harness kit for pre-87 Toyotas at Wal-Mart. Actually the harness has both pre-87 and 87 & up in one kit. I looked at all other stores and Wal-Mart was the only one with it. I believe it's only about $9 too.
Have managed to fix the problem using a volt meter. Thanks for tips. "Wolfgang" skrev i melding news:gilUd.13361$Az.5889@lakeread02...
I paid $6 at Wally World. Yeah, two harnesses in one...pre-1988 and post-1988. You can also use it to hook a newer Toyota OEM radio into an older Yota!
That's not fair. We don't have a Wally World around here.
HAHA! Do a search on Wall-Mart and Greenfield! There is a local guy named Al Norman who is making it his life's work to keep wal-mart as down as he can. The people (crunchies?) in Greenfield voted it out, and then allowed a Home Depot, when there were already 3 home improvement centers in town already! Now, there is only a locally owned dept store in Greenfield, with good stuff but HIGH prices.
