The power steering on my '95 Camry was squealing a few times, and now it's hard to turn. When the weather warms up, after awhile it's easy again, but only till it gets cold again. Would that be just the belt needing to be tightened? Down this group someone mentions that the fluid might need to be flushed? Guy at work told me the same thing, I just dont want to be taken for another $500 ride by Toyota here again, but I do want to keep the car for awhile. Thanks to all.

Had a Buick once that did that, found it was a common problem w/GM and possibly others. Problem was a seal inside the steering rack that was degraded to the point it would allow fluid to bypass when it was cold. After it warmed up and in warm weather it wasn't as bad. Fix was to R&R the rack, IIRC it's called a short rack. If you can do the work yourself, you should be able to pick a reman either at dealer or local parts store. Dealer unit will be a better quality. Don't forget a flush on ps fluid and front alignment. :-) davidj92
I use a meat baister and remove my fluid periodicaly, Mt older camry requires ATF fluid not power steering fluid, yours may require ATF also
There, it works now. Changed what fluid I could in the reservoir, that didn't do anything for a few days, then all of a sudden, it works fine again.

------ Keep changing the fuild a few more times to get out the rest of the old fluid.
