Hi, Some body mentioned that Replace Fluids and use Synthetics, what is that "Synthetics"..? if i replace fluids with Synthetics will i get more miles per gallon..? Thx

Mobil 1 was tested by BMW for 200,000m and showed little wear, they said It reduces friction. Yes you may seeup to a 5 mpg increase with engine, trans, and differential use. Also use it in power steering. Using 5-30 vs 10-30 will help mpg.. Synthetics also last longer, Amsoil says something like 9000m . But i feel that is to long, I go 4000- 5000 Inflating tires more will help MPG alot. The door- car rating is low . I go 12 lb more, and get + 2 mpg If your timing belt has more than 40000m on it than its stretched retarding timing. Mine was retarded 3 degrees reducing power and mpg by apx. 3 mpg. Old plugs, cap - rotor - wires, air filter, old oxygen sensor, cleaning throttle body. all will help up to 5 mpg, or more if yours are worn. Be sure brakes roll freely, dont bind. What is good about the transmision is that with the oil drain plug you can do it yourself without even a jack. But the diferential needs a pro to fill. I just brought my own fluid to a quick change place.

Probably not much difference in mileage, perhaps slight improvement. Provides additional protection at higher cost. Available as synthetic engine oil and ATF (automatic transmission fluid), which can also be used in the power steering.
